Welcome

Hello Friends.

Thanks for tuning in to Twelve Minute Health Bits. This is your host, Christen Hull, providing  health and wellness support for the 21st century. We will be talking about using simple methods from today and centuries ago to keep our bodies healthy. Our goal is to daily stay  “Above the Wellness Line.” In this podcast I will be giving you tips and tricks on how to daily make small changes to your life in order to keep your body well.

Episode 02 -  Above the Wellness Line

The wellness line. What exactly does that mean? Before we dive into today’s topic, I want you to take a drop of cedarwood essential oil if you have it. If not, you can use frankincense. Drop it on the pad of your thumb and press the pad of your thumb to the roof of your mouth. Hold it there for at least 20 seconds. Cedarwood is very high in sesquiterpenes (up to 90% of the oil consists of this) and it is very calming (Higley & Higley, 2018). Sesquiterpene molecules deliver oxygen molecules to our body’s cells. Increased oxygen to the cells means increased oxygen to the brain, which promotes mental clarity (Stewart, 2003).

Our health is made up of many different aspects including physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, and social well-being. All of these factors need to be in check in order for us to really live in a place where we are truly well. Sometimes even if we feel well, one of these areas may be out of balance and may be causing invisible harm to our bodies. That is why wellness needs to be something we work on constantly. Wellness should be woven into our everyday lifestyle and not just something we practice when we begin to feel tired or rundown. We should be able to avoid pharmaceuticals and emergency doctor visits if we work on keeping our bodies Above the Wellness Line. It also means working towards healing. Our bodies CAN heal. They were made to heal with the proper tools.

So what does Above the Wellness Line actually mean? In my opinion, it means living in a manner where mentally you are looking at optimism instead of pessimism, and your brain is trained to

combat negative thoughts and turns them around for good. To think about hope, belief, and life instead of despair and self-doubt. Living Above the Wellness Lines means you are physically able to exercise, eat healthy, get proper amounts of rest, and use quality supplements to fight off infection or disease if they come your way. This means your regular routine goes without disruption.

  • When eating, you do not incessantly eat, but you mindfully think about what you are eating in order to give your body the proper nutrients it needs to heal and live at an optimal level.  You are not caught up in continuous busyness or toil that may bring you down.

  • Emotionally you are able to regulate yourself, step back from a situation, look at it with a clear lense, and react in a way that is beneficial for all people involved and not just yourself.

  • Spiritually you are in tune with God, your Creator, reading His Word to learn and grow, and continuously seeking help and support from others who are spiritual mentors in your life.

  • And socially you are able to surround yourself with family and friends who you love and care about, but you do not rely on them to make you happy or bring you joy. Your joy comes from Christ.

Dr. David Stewart (2003) tells us in his book, The Healing Oils of the Bible that the phrase

And God said is spoken nine times in the first chapter of Genesis. In this case, God’s word carries a frequency, an expression of energy. God created plants with His voice and He spoke them into life, they carry His frequency, His intelligence, and His blessing for us to use for healing. He created plants to become our food and medicines. Essential oils are the lifeblood of plants. Living Above the Wellness Line includes using His plants to keep us healthy and strong. Pharmaceuticals are synthetically formulated, meaning they are dead, they lack the life force of the Creator of the universe (Stewart, 2003). God’s plants have no known side effects whereas man-made synthetic chemicals find themselves only alleviating one symptom to cause a whole host of others and not actually fixing the problem. They also create a dependency on a health care system instead of promoting independence. (p. 19-21)

Living Above the Wellness Line also means that you are constantly seeking out new knowledge, help, and support from a holistic approach to heal your body. The answers you find will stretch and grow you in a way you never thought possible. To learn on your own and not just take what someone else says for truth, but seek out answers for yourself.  Your body is different from my body and we should treat it that way. We should not be looking at a prescriptive answer for every single issue that we come across simply because of the unique diversity of the human body. Sometimes when using God’s plants to treat something, trial and error will be necessary simply because of the differences in our bodies. Patience and persistence will be your friends when you look at healing.

Above the Wellness Line means exploring options you never thought of; having an open mind; and getting a second, third, or fourth opinion if you are faced with a tough health situation.

Above the Wellness Line means understanding that buried emotions can and do affect your health in a negative manner. If we stuff away a painful past, it will come out in a physical symptom. Almost every single physical ailment can be traced to an emotional root (Truman, 1995).

Living Above the Wellness Line means using your oils, supplements, workouts, and emotional support tools on a regular basis to keep your body healthy. Realizing that our bodies are not ours, but God’s is essential. With that knowledge, comes incredible responsibility to care for our bodies to the best of our ability. With that, I leave you with Titus 2:12 “It teaches us to say ‘No to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in this present age.’”

If you are into positive affirmations, use your cedarwood essential oil once again. Drop two drops in the palm of your hand, rub your hands together clockwise, take a deep breath in while cupping your hands over your mouth, and say the positive affirmation: I happily practice self-discipline to live Above the Wellness Line.

Thanks for tuning in today, let’s work together to live and be healthier!
